Full Decommission of a Data Centre site in London and zero-downtime hardware replacement in the Arkansas Data Centre.

Objectives

• Decommission existing DC infrastructure in multiple locations

• Replace decommissioned hardware

• Install the new hardware without a production system downtime

Scope of work

• Unracking, unpatching, removal and recycling of existing hardware.

• Installation of new hardware, including rack, stack, and patch all the cabling according to customer specifications and industry standards

• Migration of production services from old to new hardware without live service disruptions

Summary

Successful quick and efficient derailing and removal, including full hardware recycling in one location, followed by replacing the production hardware, required a series of carefully and meticulously planned service migrations to ensure system uptime.
